Dorothy Mae Boardman, 90, of Commiskey, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. She was a resident at Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana.
Mrs. Boardman was in Valleyview, Kentucky on April 13, 1930, the daughter of Martha (Rhodus) and Earnest Kanatzar. She married Lester Boardman on September 28, 1949, in Carrollton, Kentucky; he preceded her in death.
She was a hairstylist and worked for Dorothy’s Beauty Shop for over 35 years before retiring. She was a member of Coffee Creek Baptist Church in Paris Crossing. Mrs. Boardman enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafts.
Mrs. Boardman is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Marvin) Deputy of North Vernon and Sandra Fish of Commiskey; son, Rod (Marcia) Boardman of North Vernon; grandchildren, Chad (Donna) Creech of Brownstown, Jeremy (Rhonda) Hall, Faith Boardman, and Seth Boardman, all of North Vernon, and Clint (Stephanie) Jackson of Seymour; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Boardman; her mother and stepfather, Martha and General Lunsford; and half-brother, Melvin (Velma) Lunsford.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021, in the Vernon Cemetery with Dr. Ricky Persons, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Boardman through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
