Douglas Harrison “Dougie” Mitchell III, 16, of North Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at his residence.
Born December 9, 2004, in Columbus, he was the son of Douglas Mitchell II and Amanda Hardesty.
Dougie was in the 11th grade at Jennings County High School and worked at Arby’s in North Vernon. He was a member of Lighthouse Apostolic Church and was a member of the Corinthian Baptist Basketball Team. Dougie enjoyed playing basketball, watching wrestling, drawing, playing the PS4, fishing. Dougie loved music, spending time with his family especially his siblings.
Survivors include his parents, Doug (Kayla) Mitchell II and Amanda (Jacob Miller) Hardesty; his grandmother who raised him, Karen Ritchie; companion, Jordan Noel; siblings, Jimmie Mitchell, MiKell Hardesty, Elijah Dulong, Madison Mitchell, Trinity Meek and Liliana Mitchell; grandparents, Douglas Mitchell I, Barbara Hardesty, Ron and Tammy Thurston; great-grandparents, Jimmie (Madeline Campbell) Ritchie Sr. and lots of aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Carolyn Ritchie, and Fay Miller; great-grandparents, Columbia Ritchie, Lucille Miller, Zebedee Ritchie, John Miller and John Hardesty; aunt, Rachel McVey and cousin, Tyler McVey.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service on Monday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in honor of Dougie through the funeral home for expenses.
