Duane Gabbard Obituary

Duane Lee Gabbard, 58, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:28 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born January 10, 1962, in Greensburg, he was the son of Clinton and Barbara (Glisson) Gabbard. He married his wife and companion of 10 years, Colleen Ramey, on December 27, 2014; she survives.

Duane attended both North and South Decatur Schools. He worked maintenance for Webster West Packaging in North Vernon for 25 years. Duane was a Boonedocks ATV operator. His enjoyments included, being a mechanic, horses, dogs, hunting, cutting wood, spending time with friends and family, and 4-wheeling.

Surviving with his wife, Colleen Gabbard, are sons, Craig (Ashley) Gabbard and Jeromy (Kelly) Gabbard, both of Jennings County; stepson, Steele Case of North Vernon; grandson, Lucas Gabbard of Jennings County; and brother, Ken (Velma) Gabbard of Connersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Mary Ellen Wilson; stepfather, Russell Wilson; and sister, Angie Gabbard Dunham.

A visitation for Duane will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service with the Rev. Tom Ramey providing opening prayers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue Adoption Inc or Donor’s Choice.
