E. Ann Colwell, 76, of Madison, passed away at 6:44 a.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born August 5, 1945, in Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Holmes and Catherina (Koontz) Cretsinger. She married Lester Colwell on January 22, 1967, in Brighton; he preceded her in death on November 22, 1997.
Ann was a 1965 graduate of Lakeland High School in LaGrange, Indiana and worked as a rug trimmer for the former Regal Rugs in North Vernon; after Regal Rugs she went to work for Greensburg Parks and Recreation for three years. Ann was a member of Point of Grace Church in Madison. She enjoyed crocheting, scrapbooking, crafting, and shopping at Goodwill.
Survivors include her son, David (Becki) Colwell of Madison; her daughter, Geneva (Joe) Couch of North Vernon; brother, Francis “Chris” (Catherine) Cretsinger of Waterloo; sisters, Mary (Jeff) Bower of Columbia City and Trisha Phelps of Wellington, Arizona; grandchildren, Dariyn (Gabe Arnold) Colwell, Cole (Jessica) Young, Joshua Combest and Amber (Caleb) Barton, all of North Vernon, Madisyn (Bret) Robbins and Lucas Colwell, both of Commiskey, Kirsten (Jason) Lynch of Austin, Arkansas and Shalyn (Jared) Burton of Paris Crossing; seventeen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Lewis Cretsinger; and great-grandchildren, Denten and Denlee Hardebeck.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation for family and friends will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Ann through the funeral home for expenses.
