Edna Emiline (McIntosh) Rockey

Edna Emiline Rockey, 80, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:12 pm on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

Born November 2, 1942 in Paris Crossing, she was the daughter of Willie and Josie McIntosh. She married Paul Richard “Dick” Rockey on August 21, 1965 at the Coffee Creek Christian Church and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2013.

Edna was a 1961 graduate of Paris Crossing High School and was the payroll clerk for the Excello Shirt Factory in Seymour for 25 years, retiring in 1987. Since 2002, she had worked with her family at the Rockey Top Cafe’ and Catering in Hayden. Edna was a member of the Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris Crossing and enjoyed playing euchre and going to the casino boats.

Survivors include a son, Paul Alan (Shannon) Rockey of Seymour; daughters, Pam Rockey and Paula Jo (Darrell Cook) Rockey, both of North Vernon; brothers Eugene (Joyce) McIntosh and Steve (Gail) McIntosh both of Paris Crossing and Curt (Karen) McIntosh of Nashville; sister Wanda Sullivan of North Vernon; grandchildren, Andy (Mallory) Rockey of Vernon, Jacob Rockey of Columbus, Olivia Isaacs of Indianapolis, Jared Rockey, Lasaya Rockey, Keira Rockey, Xavier Hamilton, and Megan Lewis all of Seymour; and 10 great grandchildren.

Edna was preceded by her husband; parents;  sisters, Patty Kramer, Fran Bratcher, Henrietta Mettler, Birdie Adams, Ileen Wetzel, and Judy Baker; brothers David and Jack McIntosh.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie McKinney officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery following the service.
