Eileen Cora Cornett, 88, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Born October 25, 1934, in Butlerville, she was the daughter of the late Albert W. and Sarah C. (Smith) Aeschbocker. She married Clifton Kenis Cornett on November 13, 1954, in Vernon; he preceded her in death on July 21, 2014.
Eileen was a 1953 graduate of North Vernon High School and was a homemaker. She had also worked for Thompson Industries and Regal Rugs in North Vernon and Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville. Eileen was a member of North Vernon Church of the Nazarene and Nothing Impossible Quilting Club in North Vernon. She enjoyed hummingbirds, reading, gardening, and flowers.
Survivors include her sons, Terry Cornett of North Vernon and Gary Cornett of Indianapolis; her daughters, Cheryl (Dennis) Byard of North Vernon, Pam (Dave) McNulty of Scipio, and Joan (Junior) McGuire of Underwood; brother, Bud Aeschbocker of Franklin; sister, Mary Ann Roberts of Vacaville, California; grandchildren, Amanda (Brent) Waldo and Sara (Mac) Weber, both of North Vernon, Diana (Derek) Bohall of Seymour, Rachael (Adam) Cooper of Elizabethtown, Nicole (Trent) Ferguson of Scottsburg, Erin (Matt) Oberlies of Lexington and Anna (Steven) Johnson of Underwood and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Jesse Aeschbocker and sisters, Ruth Buchanan, Jean Cleveland, and Margaret Olds.
A funeral service for Eileen will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Caleb Reynolds officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Eileen through the funeral home to the North Vernon Church of the Nazarene.
