Elizabeth Jo "Liz" (Wilder) Guenthenspberger

Elizabeth Jo “Liz” Guenthenspberger, 63, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2019, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born November 10, 1955, in Jackson County, Elizabeth was the daughter of Herbert and Mary (Corya) Wilder. She married Ralph Guenthenspberger Sr. on December 22, 1973, in Jennings County; he preceded her in death on March 12, 2016.

Elizabeth was a 1974 graduate of Jennings County High School and a 2008 graduate with an associate’s degree from Indiana Business College. She worked for Sylvania in Seymour for 12 years before retiring in 2002 and had previously been employed as an attendant for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and embroidering.

Survivors include her sons, Ralph E. (Gracie Matthews) Guenthenspberger II, and William Shawn Guenthenspberger, both of North Vernon; sister, Gladys (Virgil) Ragan of North Vernon; and grandchildren, Camelle Guenthenspberger of Columbus, Samuel Guenthenspberger, of North Vernon, and Alexis Bishop, Ashley Bishop, and Sarah Bishop, all of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Ann Guenthenspberger; brothers, Robert and James Wilder; and sisters, Betty Brown, Helen Washam and Margaret Wilder.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019, in the Bear Creek Baptist Cemetery in Jennings County. In keeping with her wishes, cremation was planned. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon were entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorials may be made in honor of Elizabeth through the funeral home to Boy Scouts of America.
