Ellizabeth Ann "Beth" (Zornes) Gootee

Elizabeth Ann “Beth” Gootee, 51, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:20 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at her residence.

Born July 22, 1973, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Terry and Beverly Kay (Seal) Zornes. She married Gary Gootee on October 29, 1992, in Vernon; he survives.

Beth was a 1991 graduate of Jennings County High School. She worked as a rural carrier for the United States Postal Service for 20 plus years, she had previously worked as a custodian for Jennings County Middle School for several years and a DST for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for several years. Beth was a member of the Amvets in North Vernon and NRLCA (National Rural Letter Carrier Association) She enjoyed Jeeps and German Shepherds.

Surviving with her husband Gary, is her daughter, Kassi (Steven) Pennycuff of North Vernon; her parents, Terry and Beverly Kay Zornes of North Vernon; sister, Kelly Simmons of North Vernon; and grandchildren, Makenzie, Branson and Evan Pennycuff, all of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Oscar and Helen Seal.

A visitation for Beth will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Memorials in honor of Beth may be made through the funeral home to the Vernon Fire Department.
