Florence Elenore Combest, 92, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:24 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2020 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born August 6, 1927, in Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Ella (Long) Hartwell. She married Wesley “Jack” Combest on May 14, 1955, in Vernon; he preceded her in death on December 12, 2017.
Florence was a housewife and a farmer and had previously worked at the Ford Plant in North Vernon. She was a member of the North Vernon First Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed listening to and singing live gospel music and socializing with other people at the nursing home. She also enjoyed planting flowers, gardening, and spending time with her loving family and friends.
Florence is survived by her sons, Lesley W. (Robin) Combest of North Vernon, Wesley J. (Jamie) Combest of Seymour; grandchildren, Sandra Combest of North Vernon, Audrey and Tiffany Combest, both of Seymour, and Shannon Jones of Columbus; and great-grandchild, Parker Jones of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Devan Combest; brothers, Bernard, Lewis, Stanley and Harold Hartwell; and sister, Faye Lockard.
A funeral service for Florence will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Caleb Reynolds officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the North Vernon First Church of the Nazarene.
