Frances “Elaine” Woodard, 70, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at her residence.
Born September 13, 1954, in Lexington, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ollie Hazelwood Jr. and Mildred “Irene” (Atwell) Hazelwood. She married Robert “Bob” Woodard on October 20, 1973, in Vernon; he survives.
Elaine was a 1972 graduate of Jennings County High School and worked as the administrator for their company Bob Woodard Construction. She loved her grandchildren fiercely and loved being there to watch sports games, musicals and plays; she lived for her family. Elaine loved spending time with her sisters. She also enjoyed dancing and Elvis.
Surviving with her husband of 51 years, Bob, are her sons, Ollie “Bryan” Joseph Woodard (Erika Barger) of Hayden and Robert “Brett” Woodard (Tammy) of North Vernon; her daughter, Alisha “Brooke” Miller (Jon) of Indianapolis; sisters, Marilee Barber of North Vernon; Patricia Ann Ritz (Karol) and Linda Wright (Dan), both of Vernon; grandchildren, Cameron Woodard, Juliann Woodard, Kayla Burton, Kyle Burton, Konner Woodard, and Nathan Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service for Elaine will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Gary East officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
