Gary D. Bridges

Gary D. Bridges, 71, of Columbus, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at his residence.

Born August 25, 1953, in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late Harold and Virginia (Bright) Bridges. He married Deborah Horstman on August 3, 1974, at the First Baptist Church in North Vernon; she survives.

Gary was a 1971 graduate of Jennings County High School and attended Indiana University. He had a career in marketing until his retirement in 2017. Gary was a member of Celebration Fellowship in Noblesville and a former 32-year member of Bethel American Baptist Church in Columbus. He was a member of Six Mile Masonic Lodge #412 in Hayden. Gary enjoyed reading, gardening, golfing and playing cards and board games. He loved spending time with his family.

Surviving with his wife, Deborah, is his son, Jeremy (Shirley) Bridges of New Whiteland; his daughters, Susannah (David) Hallgarth, of Noblesville and Bethany Bridges of Carmel; brother, Scott (Susan) Bridges of Clarksville Tennessee; and grandchildren, Jade (Peter) King of Franklin, and Lilian Adora Hallgarth and Oliver David Hallgarth, both of Noblesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shannon Hansen; and the parents of his heart, George and Edora Horstman.

A funeral service for Gary will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon, with Rev. Richard Burcham, Rev. William Cordes, and Rev. Rebecca Horstman May officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Masonic Memorial service will be held at 12:45 p.m. by members of Six Mile Masonic Lodge. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Gary through the funeral home to Celebration Fellowship.
