George Leibert Christy

George Leibert Christy, 58, of North Vernon, passed away on October 6, 2024, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Born November 6, 1965, in Seymour, he was the son of Ella Virginia Pitts Haddix and the late Troy Haddix.

George was a 1985 graduate of Jennings County High School and went to Big Rig Trucking School. He served in the United States Navy from 1988 until 1990. George enjoyed fishing and loved dogs.

Survivors include his mother, Virginia Haddix of North Vernon; brothers, William R. “Rusty” (Debbie) Christy of Clarksville, Tennessee, Rusty H. (Marilyn) Christy and John L. (Carol) Christy, both of Pennsylvania; and niece, Ashley Christy of Clarksville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his father, Troy Haddix and his sister Nyleen Nancy Haddix.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, in the Vernon Cemetery with the Rev. Lewis Wright officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of George for expenses.
