George Clegg, 82, of North Vernon, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at his residence.
Born September 27, 1938 in Kearney, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Lawrence M. and Louise M. (Koory) Clegg.
George was a 1956 graduate in San Antonio, Texas and served in the U.S. Army in the 1960’s. He worked as a harness horse trainer, Casino Operator (floor manager) and general manager of the horse track. He was also a private pilot. George enjoyed playing cards and betting on the horses.
Survivors include his sons, Wren (Renaé) Clegg and Larry (Nancy) Clegg, both of Pennsylvania, George (Dawn) Clegg II of Illinois and Nick (Betty) Clegg of Ohio; daughters, Angie Woolf of Butlerville, Susan (Tony) Drumm and Lori Ashley, both of South Carolina, Tiffany Frank-Rizzo of Iowa, Vicki (Biron) Miller of Kentucky, Robin Curless of Florida, and Kimberly (Ron) Lyall of Illinois; thirty two grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Nadine Johnson Clegg and 2nd wife, Kathy Fernetti Clegg and sister, Mary Lou Marsh.
In keeping with his and the family’s wishes, cremation is planned, and no services are to be held at this time. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service was entrusted with the care of these arrangements.
