Georgia Lee Day, 86, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at Majestic Care of North Vernon.
Born June 12, 1934, in Bonnyman, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Sid and Carrie J. (Combs) Gabbard. She married Richard R. Day on August 11, 1957 in Vernon; he preceded her in death on April 15, 2006.
Georgia worked for 10 years with ITT Thompsons and 11 years at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center. As a teen she worked at the local ice cream parlor. She was a member of the Apostolic Church in Westport. Georgia enjoyed reading the Bible.
Survivors include her sons, Mark E. Day of North Vernon and Steve (Janice) Day of Deputy; daughter, Marilyn (Raymond) Terrell of North Vernon; brother, Sidney (Reba) Gabbard of North Vernon; sisters, June (Raymond) Franks of North Vernon and Marie (Jim) Howell of Ohio; grandchildren, Rickie Matthews, of Columbus, Lisa Matthews, Delana (Josh) Porter, Mathew Day, Ryan Day, and Steve (Tabatha) Day, all of North Vernon; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Richard Day; brothers, Elijah, David, Earl, James and Donald Gabbard; and sisters, Della and Ruby Gabbard, and Betty Lanham.
A graveside service for Georgia will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020, in the Vernon Cemetery with the Rev. John Willis officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home in honor of Georgia for expenses.
