Gladys Mae Caudill, 87, of Dupont, passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Born January 14, 1933 in Denver, Colorado, she was the daughter of Ira Charles Iwerks Sr., and Hazel (Dell) Iwerks. She married Warnell Caudill on September 3, 1960, in Denver, Colorado; he preceded her in death on July 3, 2020.
Gladys was a 1951 graduate of Adams City High School in Adams City, Colorado and attended Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, Central Missouri State in Missouri, and Colorado University in Boulder, Colorado and served in the U.S. Navy. She was the former co-owner and manager of Caudill Trucking. Gladys was a member of Graham Baptist Church in Jennings County and enjoyed knitting, sewing, watching game shows, and playing with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph Caudill and Mark (Melissa) Caudill, both of Butlerville, and David (Gail) Griffith of Louisville, Kentucky; daughter, Kathy Stephens of Butlerville; sister, Valenia LaMasney of Kansas City, Kansas; and grandchildren, Aaron Griffith of LaGrange, Kentucky, Casey (Alex) Sniegowski of Nashville, Tennessee, Kristin Stephens of North Vernon, and Marissa Caudill and Allison Stephens, both of Butlerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Robert and Anthony Sims and Ira Iwerks Jr.; and sisters, Garnett and Mary Sims.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Dupont Cemetery with military graveside rites by members of Matt Hester Post 2021 V.F.W.
