Glen Edward Brooks, 72, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:19 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Born October 31, 1951, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William and Bessie (Bays) Brooks. He married Laura “Laurie” Pratt on July 3, 1980, in Anda Lusia, Alabama; she preceded him in death on December 24, 2021.
Glen was a 1970 graduate of Jennings County High School. He was the co-owner of Brooks and Earl Construction in North Vernon for 45 years and had previously worked for Royality Construction and Arvin’s Industries in North Vernon. He was a former member and president of the Jennings County Fair Board and member of the Better Business Bureau. Glen enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, and going to concerts and horse shows. He loved spending time with family and attending his family events.
Survivors include his son, Burt D. (Angie) Brooks of Butlerville; his daughters, Abigail C. Brooks of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Jessica R. (Joseph Jenkins) Brooks of Madison; brothers, Willam (Phyllis) Brooks of Uniontown, Mike (Phyllis) Brooks of Butlerville, and Ralph Brooks of Arizona; sisters, Minnie Roberts of Cleveland, Tennessee and Lois (Jim) McKeand of North Vernon; grandchildren, Addison Richart of Seymour, Wilson Richart and Thompson Richart, both of Lexington, Kentucky, Ryker Glen Brooks of Madison, Gracyn Brooks of Butlerville, Colton Viel of Milan, and Kelsie Cuellar of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Daelynn and Asher; and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his sister, Brenda Calandro.
A celebration of Glen’s life will be held 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Glen through the funeral home to the Lions Eye Bank.
