Grace Joy Maine, 59, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:40 a.m. on Friday, January 1, 2021, at her residence.
Born October 20, 1961, in La Mesa, California, she was the daughter of Edgar and Henrietta (Walker) Carman. She married Keith Maine on August 27, 1983 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada; he survives.
Grace worked for Linda’s Log Cabin, the former Jim Dandy’s restaurant, and the Jennings County Public Library. She was a member of the Moose Lodge in Chino, California and in North Vernon. She was also a member of the Lion’s Club in North Vernon. Grace enjoyed reading, watching classic movies and TV shows, and making sure the family ties were strong.
Surviving with her husband, Keith Maine, is her son, K.C. (Brittany) Maine of North Vernon; her daughters, Aundréa Powers of North Vernon and Shae (Rob) Everage of Butlerville; sisters, Polly Carman of Nashville, Tennessee, Sonja Carman of San Diego, California, and Nancy Edler of Texas; grandchildren, Nicholas Weemes of Seymour, Samantha Weemes and Keith Joshua Maine, both of North Vernon, and Ayden Everage of Butlerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edwin Lee Carman; and sisters, Tamera Lou Carmen and Diana Derby.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Shelby County with Steve and Judy Malone officiating. Visitation will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon were entrusted to the care of these arrangements.
