Gregory Lee "Greg" Owens

Gregory Lee “Greg” Owens, 48, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at his residence.

Born October 8, 1977, in Batesville, he was the son of Linda (Pyles) Owens Heilman. Greg was a 1997 graduate of Jennings County High School.

Greg was a construction worker and a “Jack of all Trades”. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, racing, and loved helping people. He had a huge heart.

Survivors include his son, Bradin (Alexah) Owens of Columbus; his daughter, Natalie (Brandon McDaniel) Owens of Batesville; parents, Linda and Dave Heilman of North Vernon; brother, Daniel Lee Heilman of Appleton, Wisconsin; sisters, LaDonna (Colin) Vaughn of North Vernon and Melinda (Hans) Schultz of Appleton, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Hudson Owens of Columbus, Parker McDaniel and Zoey McDaniel, both of Batesville; nephews, Matt Vaughn of North Vernon and Trevor Vaughn of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Owens, and his sister, Melissa Heilman.

Private family services are to be held. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Memorials in honor of Greg may be made through the funeral home to Freedom Hunt.
