Harold William Monday

Harold William Monday, 88, of North Vernon passed away on August 6, 2018, at his residence.

Born January 17, 1930, in Jennings County, he was the son of William McKinley and Dolly Marilda Lawrence Monday. He married Eva Lawrence; she preceded him in death in February, 1990.

Mr. Monday served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953, he owned Harold’s Garage in North Vernon where he was a self-employed mechanic, and he formerly worked as a mechanic for Capital Dodge in Indianapolis for 25 years. He was a member of Butlerville Mennonite Church and Coffee Creek Conservation Club. Mr. Monday enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, bingo, cracking hickory and walnuts and picking blackberries.

He is survived by his sons, Harold Dean Monday and his wife, Nancy, of Butlerville and Robert Monday and his wife, Sheila, of Franklin; daughters, Sharon Manifold and her husband, Roy, of Beech Grove, and Linda Reynolds and her husband, Kenneth, of Martinsville; brothers, Richard Monday, Kenneth Monday and his wife, Pam, Jerry Monday, and Bill Monday and his wife, Debbie, all of North Vernon; sisters, Hattie Rothert of Lovett, Joann Combest, Martha Lacey and Linda Ross all of North Vernon, Virginia Lamb and her husband, James, of Butlerville and Gloria Browning and her husband, Aubra, of Madison; grandchildren, Krishayna Miller of Commiskey; Amanda Belich and her husband, Ian, Jeff Manifold and his wife, Chris, and Craig Manifold and his wife, Cindy, all of Greenwood, Jason Monday of Franklin, Kim Manifold of Indianapolis, Kenneth Reynolds Jr. and his wife, Tabitha, of Southport and Dawn Reynolds of Colorado; sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother, Alva Eugene Monday; sister, Marie "Judy" Canary and an infant sister.

A funeral service for Mr. Monday will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Monday, August 13, 2018, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A committal service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood.
