Jack Carroll, 66, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:33 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born January 1, 1955, in Glasgow, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Delmer and Louise (Hardy) Carroll. He married Debra Brewer on September 24, 1977, in North Vernon; she survives.
Jack served in the U.S. Army from 1972 until 1975 and worked in construction as a roller operator for Rieth & Riley in Indianapolis. He was the current pastor of Mercy Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus for 28 years. Jack enjoyed driving tractors, gardening, reading the Bible, building his house and spending time with his family.
Surviving with his wife, Debra; are sons, Travis Carroll of Columbus and Jackie (Sarah) Carroll of North Vernon; daughters, Sherry (Mike) Smith of North Vernon, Crystal (Justin) Ackeret of Salem and Roxanna (Derek) Boles of Columbus; brothers, Steve (Karen) Carroll and Gary (Kathy) Carroll, both of Columbus; sisters, Bonnie (Eddie) Lovins of Somerset, Kentucky, Barb (Steve) Mays of Seymour and Lois (Elwood) Brown of Columbus; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jimmy Dale and Bobby Ray Carroll; and sister, Juanita Carroll.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
