Jacqueline Jo (Norman) Thurman

Jacqueline Jo Thurman, 87, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at Majestic Health Care in North Vernon.

Born January 9, 1932, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Cora Lee (Coons) Norman. She married John R. Thurman on November 19, 1966, in Indianapolis; he preceded her in death on September 15, 2000.

Mrs. Thurman was a 1950 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School and a 1951 graduate of Indiana Beauty College both in Indianapolis. She worked as a teller for Bank One in Indianapolis, retiring in 1992 after 25 years. Mrs. Thurman was a member of the Friends of Library. She enjoyed being a library volunteer, cats, reading, and playing euchre.

Survivors include step-sons, Scott A. (Joyce) Thurman of Camby and Bernard E. (Tammy) Thurman of Jasper; grandchildren, Terry (Sherry) Heeke of Kentucky, Amanda (Mike) Drew of Jasper, Trisha Thurman of Holland, and Adam Thurman of Salem; great-grandchildren, William Heeke and Charles Heeke, both of Henderson, Kentucky, Maude Drew, Maris Drew, Burns Drew, and Jonathon Thurman, all of Jasper, and Kaylea Thurman of Holland; great nieces, Terri Haines and Tricia Glenn both of Indiana; and great-great-niece, Jocelyn Wilson of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Alan Thurman; foster mother, Billie Monday; and step-daughter, Anne Heeke.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation is planned with a burial in the Blackfoot Cemetery in Spurgeon. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service was entrusted with the care of these arrangements.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Thurman to Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc or Jennings County Public Library.
