James Gordon Barker, 52, of Crystal River, Florida, passed away at 11:38 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, in Florida.
Born December 25, 1969, in Columbus, he was the son of the late Earnest and Donna (Gordon) Barker.
James worked as a postal delivery man for an independent company in Florida. He was a member of Citrus Christian Church in Citrus County, Florida and an alumnus of Johnson College in Knoxville, Tennessee. James enjoyed swimming and going to the beach. He loved Florida and had retired and moved there to enjoy life.
Survivors include his brothers, Jonathan Andrew (Lisa) Barker and David Lee Barker, both of Commiskey; sisters, Ruth (Sherman) Thomas of Bedford and Donna Barker of Florence, Kentucky; nieces and nephews, Seth Thomas, Eli Thomas, Cora Thomas, Kaylee (Justin) Lesnet, Ki Roberts, Charlie Roberts and Jerry Roberts; his great-niece, Peyton Lesnet; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Lawrence and Wilda Gordon and Woodrow and Dorothy Barker.
A funeral service for James will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Coffee Creek Christian Church in Paris Crossing. Visitation with family and friends will be on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Coffee Creek Christian Church Cemetery. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon were entrusted to the care of these arrangements.
Memorials may be made in honor of James through the funeral home to Coffee Creek Christian Cemetery Fund.
