James Raymond "Jim" Phelps

James Raymond “Jim” Phelps, 58, of Columbus, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born October 30, 1963, in Seymour, he was the son of Edith Jo (Leeds) Phelps and the late Virgil Phelps.

Jim was a 1982 graduate of Jennings County High School and worked as a factory worker, welder and farmed. He enjoyed fishing and playing softball. Jim loved his pets.

Survivors include his mother, Edith Phelps of Hope; brother, John (Donna Carver) Phelps of Seymour, sister, Rhonda Bass of Alabama; and niece, Samantha Phelps of Waukesha, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his father.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022, in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, with the Rev. Don Morris officiating. Arrangements were in care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Memorials in honor of Jim may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
