James Christopher “Old Man Reamer” Reamer Sr., 60, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Our Hospice of South-Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born September 27, 1959, in Dearborn County, he was the son of Raymond Eugene and June Lois (Horton) Reamer. He married Penny Ann Turner on July 6, 1990, in Ashland, Kentucky; she preceded him in death on October 8, 2018.
James worked as a mechanic for Jennings County for over four years and had previously worked as a welder four to five years at Bickers Metal, formerly of Cincinnati now Miamitown, Ohio and for Roecamp Steel in Cincinnati, Ohio. He enjoyed tinkering, working on cars, making jewelry, building model cars and drawing.
He is survived by his son, James Reamer Jr., of North Vernon; daughters, Amanda (Jacob) Riffel of North Vernon, Crystal Reamer of Aurora, Amber Reamer of Dillsboro, and Jessica Young of Tiffin, Ohio; brother, Walter (Chris) Reamer of Cleves, Ohio; sister, Jackie Deckard of Moores Hill; grandchildren, Emberly, Haley, Briana and Paisley “Pay Pay” Riffel, all of North Vernon, David “Scooter” Burton of Indianapolis, Char Hobbs, Luke, Dylan, Jaqueline Hoffman, and Heavenlee Wolfe, all of Aurora, Brandon and Dison Chance, both of Dillsboro; nephews, Noah Walcott and Ethan Whiteford, both of Dillsboro and Dylan Tichoner of Moores Hill; and nieces, Destiny Whiteford and April Tichoner, both of Moores Hill, and Emma Kochert and Brandy Webster, both of Dillsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and brother, Raymond “Bus” Reamer.
A funeral service for James will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, July 13, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dan Corbin officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, July 13, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Oak Dale Cemetery in Dillsboro.
