James Lee Schildknecht

James Lee Schildknecht, 73, of North Vernon, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at his residence.

Born August 15, 1948, in Seymour, he was the son of William G. and Maida (Greathouse) Schildknecht. He married Edith Elaine “Edie” Young on December 1, 1980, in Tennessee; she preceded him in death on November 8, 2017.

James was a graduate of Jennings County High School and worked as a machinist for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 40 years. He was a former member of the North Vernon Moose Lodge. James enjoyed reading.

Survivors include his son, Brady Schildknecht of Annapolis, Maryland; daughters, Teresa (Jeff) Even of Lakeland, Florida, Tonya Schildknecht of Columbus, and Rachel Campbell of North Vernon; grandchildren Nathan Even, Katie Even, and David Even, all of Lakeland, Florida, Chris Campbell, Caitlyn Campbell, Carmen Campbell, and J.T. Smith, all of North Vernon, and Thomas Hancock of Columbus; and siblings, Jack Sandlin, Mike Sandlin, Robert Schildknecht, and Wanda Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Chuck, Bob, and Bill Schildknecht and Sharon Underwood.

Cremation is planned with no services to be held at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
