James Junior “Bubby” Lamb, 85, of Butlerville, passed away at 1:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at his residence.
Born April 13, 1940, in Jennings County, he was the son of the late James Edgar and Viola (Bryant) Lamb. He married Virginia Marie Monday on October 26, 1959, in North Vernon; she preceded him in death on October 13, 2023.
James was a over-the-road semi driver for over 60-years and worked as a team driver with his wife, Virginia, for over 30-years. James was a member of Christ Community Church in Butlerville. He enjoyed racing, mud bogging, lawn tractor pulls with his children. James lived his life for his wife, kids, and grandkids - always putting them before himself.
Survivors include his children, Kathy Earl, Becky (David) Goins, Teresa (Brian) Killey, Tami (Gary) Miller and AJ (Karen) Lamb, all of Butlerville; brothers, James T. (Emma) Lamb of Austin and Robert (Teresa) Stout of New Palestine; sisters, Mary Catherine (Steve) Combs of Scipio, Elsie Rush of New Castle, Jo (Dale) Burton of Elizabethtown, Paulette (Richard) Hammons of Crothersville, Patricia Isaacs of Gwynneville, Carma (Charlie) Evans of Deputy; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brother Chester and William “PeeWee” Lamb; sisters, JoAnn Hanner and Sharon Ivey; son-in-law, Greg Earl; grandson, Timothy Cummings; and great-grandson, Daniel Miller Thompson.
A funeral service for James will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Christ Community Church in Butlerville with Rev. Dezmien Williams officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Church. Burial will follow in the Rush Branch Cemetery in Butlerville.
Memorials may be made in honor of James through the funeral home to Christ Community Church Youth Group..
