Jeffery Joe Collins

Jeffery Joe Collins, 59, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:30pm on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at his residence.

Born February 21, 1966, in Salina Kansas, he was the son of the late George Collins and Patricia (Nease) Collins. He married Sharon Hixson on July 16, 1990, in Paris Crossing; she survives.

Jeffery was a lifelong construction worker. He enjoyed being a handyman and spending time with his friends at Lumberjacks in Butlerville. Jeffery also enjoyed hunting and fishing, going kayaking, swimming, and being a fantastic papaw to his grandchildren.

Survivors include his son, John Lightner of North Vernon; daughters, Anita (Cherry) McNeal of Moores Hill, April Kessinger and Leah Lightner both of North Vernon; and grandchildren, Sierra Kessinger of Butlerville, Issac Lightner and Anna Lightner both of North Vernon, and Alexis (Taylor Lacher) Kelley of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother David Collins; and his sister Jeannie Collins.

The visitation for family and friends of Jeffery will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Memorials in honor of Jeffery may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
