Jennifer Christine (Gearries) Rockhold

Jennifer Christine Rockhold, 74, of North Vernon, passed away at 3:10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.

Born February 9, 1949, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Roy Gilbert and Anna Ruth (Amstutz) Gearries.

Jennifer was a 1966 graduate of George Washington High School in Indianapolis and a 1970 graduate of the University of Indianapolis with a degree in biology. She worked for 35 years as a float manager for National City Bank. Jennifer enjoyed genealogy, planting flowers, gardening, rocks, and cats. She also loved poetry and had two published poems.

Survivors include her son, Christian Rockhold of Shelbyville; brothers, Jeff (Evelyn) Gearries and James (Janice) Gearries, both of Indianapolis; sister, Joyce Kirkman of North Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Eric Rockhold; and brothers, John and Jerry Gearries.

A funeral service for Jennifer will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with Jeff Gearries officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc. or the Jennings County Historical Society.
