Jerry Lee Beverly, 54, passed on to be with his Lord on January 26, 2021 at Baptist Floyd H
Jerry was born in North Vernon, Indiana to parents Ralph and Meletha Beverly.
He lived in North Vernon until 2004 when he was admitted to the Blue River Services Supervised Group Living Program. He attended Blue River Industries Workshop, the Habilitation program, and also worked at Goodwill Industries. Jerry was well known to his community through not only his work, but his generosity of spirit. He initiated Blue River’s donations to the Big Warm Hug, a program which collected coats for the Home of the Innocents. Jerry annually supported the Angel Tree as well as the First Capital Christian Church Operation Christmas Child. He requested others make cards and gifts for a child with a life-threatening illness. Jerry was active in Special Olympics, attended church camp and vacation Bible School. Jerry was blessed by his long-time membership at the First Capital Christian Church in Corydon, working in the church daycare, and participating in services, singing, and prayer. In 2019, Jerry was featured as the Blue River Success story at the Residential In-service, and in 2020, Jerry was nominated and won the Rauch Imagine Awards, which honors individuals with disabilities who have excelled. Jerry’s life was a gift which he shared with everyone. He loved working and helping others, but most of all, Jerry loved God.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Meletha Beverly. He is survived by his brothers, Isaac Beverly, of North Vernon, Indiana and John Beverly of Debary, Florida; sister, Tilda Spurgeon of Dayton, Tennessee; girlfriend, Tracy; his Blue River family; as well as many friends who loved him.
Visitation will be at the First Capital Christian Church on Wednesday, February 3rd from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, February 4th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Following this visitation, a Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 at the church. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana on February 4th at 2:00 p.m. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon were entrusted with the care of these arrangements.
