Jessie Christine "Chris" (Wilder) Lawdermilt

Jessie Christine “Chris” Lawdermilt, 89, of North Vernon, formerly of Butlerville, passed away at 3:55 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born December 21, 1935, in Buckhorn, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Sherman and Callie (Johnson) Wilder.

Chris was a 1953 graduate of Paris Crossing High School and worked as an attendant for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville before retiring after 30 plus years. She was also very successful as a Tupperware dealer and was often top in sales. Chris enjoyed ceramics, painting portraits, baking, cooking, and providing food with love to her entire family.

Survivors include her son, Shawn (Kenna) Callahan of Corydon; her daughter, Anna (Wayne) Cheatham of Aurora; brother, Phillip (Rhonda) Wilder of Vernon; sisters, Edna Matthews of Indianapolis, Charlene (Tony) Yeager, and Rose Smoot, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Vanessa (Andrew) Stackhouse of Harbor Springs, Michigan, Jackson Callahan of Corydon, Lindsay Cheatham of Aurora, Cody (Brittney) Cheatham of New Palestine, Summer Williams of Bargersville, and Josh Lawdermilt of North Vernon; and great-grandchildren, Zoe Callies, Oliver Walker, Carter Walker, Asher Callahan, Chevi Weddle, Olivia Cheatham, and Grady Cheatham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Claude, Charles and Fred Wilder; stepdaughter, Karen Sue Lawdermilt; and her favorite uncle, Greenberry Johnson, who passed away on the same day as Chris in Buckhorn, Kentucky.

A funeral service for Chris will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Paul Penegar officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
