Jo Anne Ramey, aged 90, of Springfield, TN, passed away on January 8, 2026, due to complications from a stroke.

Jo Anne was born on 11/29/1935, the daughter of Paul Jackson Burge and Stella T. Burge (nee Taylor) in Gary, Indiana. She moved to Jennings County in 1951, with her parents and her sister, Gail Alice (George) Coon, all of whom preceded her in death.

She graduated from North Vernon High School in 1953. Married soon after high school, Jo Anne was a homemaker for 20 years before joining the work force as an employee of the Jennings County Extension Office. She worked at several jobs before retiring from Edward Jones Investments in North Vernon, Indiana.

She placed great value in her church memberships. She was baptized into City Methodist Church in Gary, Indiana, where she maintained her membership until her move south. She was later an active member for many years in Vernon Baptist Church before joining her final congregation at First United Methodist Church in Lebanon, TN.

She also belonged to several civic organizations, including the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Jo Anne was an avid traveler, visiting Europe and the Middle East, including Egypt and the Holy Land. She was also particularly proud of having visited all 50 of the United States.

Jo Anne raised three children, two of whom, Michael Paul (Valentina) Ramey and Lucinda Jan (Marcus) Sharp, survive. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Debra Lynne Aubrey. Additionally, she is survived by 6 grandchildren, Lucinda Sutton, Amanda (Christina Gann) Aubrey, Jaime (Nicole) Ramey, Darcy (Nick Mastron) Sharp, and twins, Paul and Sarah Ramey, and three great-grandchildren, Trinity (Tyler) Davis, Micayla Aubrey, and Jaden Sutton.

A graveside interment service will be held at 12:00 pm on January 24, 2026, at the Hayden Cemetery where her remains will be laid to rest with her beloved parents. Officiating the service will be members of the Order of the Eastern Star, with remarks from Rev. Lewis Wright.
