John Atwood Obituary

John Timothy Atwood, 56, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.

Born November 11, 1964, in Bristol, Tennessee, he was the son of James Thomas Atwood and Mildred Irene (Dollar) Denney.

John worked as chief of security for Sea Mist Hotels in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He enjoyed talking, traveling, and watching television.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Marquis of North Vernon; son, Zach of Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Kaleigh of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; father, James Thomas Atwood of London, Kentucky; mother, Mildred Irene (Dollar) Denney of Bristol, Virginia; brother, James “Jimmy” of Powell, Ohio; and sister, Deborah of Bristol, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his stepson, Clinton.

In keeping with his and his family's wishes, cremation is planned, and no services are to be held at this time. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon was entrusted with the care of these arrangements.

Memorials may be made in honor of John through the funeral home for expenses.
