John O. Dillon Sr.

John O. Dillon Sr., 68, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:11 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2020, at his son’s residence.

Born July 17, 1952, in Paoli, he was the son of Herbert Franklin and June Rose (King) Dillon. He married Mitzie L. Dillon on May 26, 1983, in Vernon; she preceded him in death on May 17, 2020.

John worked for Brands, the Jennings Water Company, and in maintenance for the nursing home. He enjoyed working in the yard and was an I.U. Fan and a football fan.

Survivors include his children, Diana (Eric) Boardman of Hobe Sound, Florida, and Judy (James) Collett, Johnny Dillon, and Josh (April) Dillon, all of North Vernon; siblings, Herbert Dillon of Texas, Aaron (Jean Ann) Linch and Janet Lee Linch, both of North Vernon, Joanna Crecelius of Hardinsburg, Jennie Grovero of Florida, and Jane (Darrell) Emily of Campbellsburg; grandchildren, Justin Boardman, Jessica Boardman, and Sumer Boardman, all of Palm Beach, Florida, Coty (Charity) Hicks, Brandon Strickland, Zach Collett, Jasmine (Brandon Ritchie) Dillon, Tiffany (Justin Wooton) Dillon, Jalen Dillon, Damon Dillon, Peyton Dillon, Faith Dillon, and William Destefino, all of North Vernon; and great-grandchildren, Mikayla Strickland, Christopher Strickland, Donnie Hicks, Kystin Ritchie, Kashton Ritchie, Liam Wooton and Wesley Wooton, all of North Vernon.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his daughter, Tanya Dillon.

A graveside service for John will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon.
