John Paul Jones

John Paul Jones, 80, of Scipio, passed away at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at his residence.

Born April 8, 1945, in Seymour, he was the son of the late Ernest and Helen (Beeman) Jones. He married Janet Welch on May 30, 1964, at Browns Corner Chapel in Scipio; she survives.

John was a 1963 graduate of North Vernon High School and worked for Cummins Engine Company for 55 ½ years before retiring in 2017. He built their home in Scipio. John enjoyed working on vehicles, driving his mustang and going on overseas trips for Cummins Engine Company.

Surviving with his wife of 60 years, Janet, is his son, J. Eric “Rick” Jones of Scipio.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service for John will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Ray Jones officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Reddington Cemetery in Reddington.
