John Charles “Meat Cutter” Westerman, 73, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:52 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at his residence.
Born February 22, 1949, in Osgood, he was the son of Gilbert and Minnie (Hunington) Westerman. He married Patricia Fields on May 5, 1982, in Jellico, Tennessee; she survives.
John was a Jack of all Trades and a member of New Freedom Baptist Church where he was baptized on August 21, 2016. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, woodworking, being a craftsman, archery, gun shooting and he loved music.
Surviving with his wife, Patricia, are his sons, John Andrew (Missie) Westerman of Florida and Eric Lee (Lori) Westerman of Evansville; daughters, Sonya (Michael Crowder) Neff , Stacy (Terry) Roark, Amber (Joshua) Jones and Tiffany Lynn Westerman, all of North Vernon and Shelly Dierkes of Madison; brothers, William “Bill” Lewis of Star City and Gilbert (Diana) Westerman of Muncie; sisters, Rita Craig of North Vernon and Dodie Hanson of Florida; twenty two grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jason T. Westerman and brother, Carl Westerman.
In keeping with his and his family’s wishes, cremation is planned with a celebration of life to be held at a later date. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service was entrusted with the care of these arrangements.
Memorials may be made in honor of John through the funeral home to help with expenses.
