John “Sherman” Jones, 60, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Compassus Hospice in Indianapolis.
Born August 29, 1964, in Seymour, he was the son of Ray and Carolyn (Engleking) Jones. He married Tammy Dillon on March 5, 2005, at the Gum Street Church of God in North Vernon; she survives.
Sherman worked for Nippon Steel in Seymour. He was a former member of the Church of God in North Vernon and enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, riding Harley Davidson and tinkering with cars.
Surviving with his wife Tammy; are his sons, Toby (Tonya) Jones and William (Amanda) Dillon, both of North Vernon, Jake Creamer of Lizton, and Michael Richey of Columbus; daughter, Alicia Jones of Jonesville; brothers, Ray (Denise) Jones of Seymour and Eddie (Shannon) Jones of Crothersville; sisters, Linda Muncy of Crothersville and Teresa (Anthony) Robinson of Deputy; grandchildren, Elijah Jones, Jlynn Jones, Logan Jones, John Hunter Jones, Aaralynn Hollin, Alivia Wooton, Zaydyn Perry, Malia Dillon and Koltyn Creamer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tim and Matthew Jones; brother-in-law, Larry Muncy; and sister-in-law, Della Jones.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Pastor Ray Jones officiating. The visitation for Sherman will be on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made in honor of Sherman through the funeral home to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) for Parkinsonians type MSA (MAS-P).
