Joseph Allen "Joe" Simmons

Joseph Allen “Joe” Simmons, 57, of Butlerville, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, in Butlerville.

Born August 19, 1965, in Seymour, he was the son of the late Roger and Sharon (McDonald) Simmons. He married Kelly Zornes on August 4, 2022, in Butlerville; she survives.

Joe was a 1983 graduate of Jennings County High School and obtained his bachelor's degree in history from Ball State University in Muncie. He served in the U.S. Navy. Joe worked as a farmer on the Beesley’s Farms in Jennings County. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, laying in a hammock, and being outside.

Surviving with his wife, Kelly; is his daughter, Jennifer Foster of Alabama; brother Jay Simmons of North Vernon; sister, Jill (Jeff) Olds of Shelbyville; and grandchildren, Michael Simmons-Collins and Grant Meadors, both of Seymour and Adrian Cooper of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at the Rudicel Family Event Center, 408 South State Street, North Vernon from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 2:00 p.m. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.

Memorials in honor of Joe may be made through the funeral home to the Roger Simmons/JC 4H Livestock Fund with the Jennings County Community Foundation.
