Joseph Hugh "Hughie" Thomas

Joseph Hugh “Hughie” Thomas, 58, of North Vernon, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born June 1, 1967, in Henderson County, Kentucky; he was the son of Ray Thomas and the late Estelle (Fulton) Sharp.

Hughie enjoyed fishing, racing, and hanging out with his mother.

He is survived by his sons, Wayne Thomas and Scott Thomas, both of Owensboro, Kentucky; his daughters, Taylor (Ryan) Wayt of Seymour and Savannah (Jeffrey) Wingler of North Vernon; his father, Ray Thomas of Owensboro, Kentucky; several grandchildren; his mother’s twin sister, Aunt Ann Girton of Owensboro, Kentucky; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother; stepfather, Kenneth “Bud” Sharp; and stepmother, Vivian Dean Thomas.

A visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 10:00 a.m. until the closing prayer at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service.  The burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Hughie through the funeral home for expenses.
