Joyce Ann (Leahigh) Neal

Joyce Ann Neal, 71, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:35 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born December 29, 1948, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary E. (Poling) Leahigh. She married Ronnie Neal on January 23, 1974 in North Vernon; he survives.

Joyce was a 1967 graduate of North Vernon High School and worked as a DST for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for 17 years before retiring in 2003; she had previously worked doing prep work at Jim Dandy’s and Amick Restaurant in North Vernon for 15 years. Joyce enjoyed computer games, traveling, but she mostly enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.

Surviving with her husband, Ronnie are a son, Steven Neal of North Vernon; daughter, Deanna (Jake) Sullivan of North Vernon; grandchildren, Devin Neely of Brownstown, Kali Neal and Jimmy Neely both of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Nikolas Lee Neal; a sister Carolyn Adams; brothers, David and James Leahigh.

A funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Brother Gerald Caudill and Brother David Neal officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 27, 2020, at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.
