Juanita Kay Barger

Juanita Kay Barger, 66, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:16 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at her residence.

Born April 6, 1957, in Hazard, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Lulie (Akeman) Barger.

Juantia worked as a forklift driver. She enjoyed gardening and cats.

She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Shepherd of North Vernon; friend and roommate, Dorothy Wilson of North Vernon; brothers, Jesse Barger of Scipio, Jon Barger and Billie Barger, both of Austin and Doug Barber of North Vernon; sister, Virgie Washburn of Alabama; and grandchildren, Grace and Amelia of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ira Barger; and sister, Pauline Barger.

A funeral service for Juanita will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at a later date in the Hillcrest Cemetery in North Vernon.

Memorials may be made in honor of Juanita through the funeral home for expenses.
