Karen Louise Combest, 66, of North Vernon, passed away at 1:35 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born October 8, 1958, in Seymour, she was the daughter of the late Glen Dewey Bush and Elsie Jean (Stout) Bowman. She married Samuel A. Combest on July 8, 2011, in Tennessee; he survives.
Karen worked as a school bus driver for Jennings County Schools and was the owner and operator of S&K Cleaning. She enjoyed going to the casinos, fishing, horseback riding, and she loved her puppy, Marley.
Surviving with her husband, Sam are daughters, Jennifer M. (Coleman) King of Crothersville and Amanda Jean (Todd) Banks of Brownstown; her son, Daryl Lee Brewer of Scottsburg; stepchildren, Dee Ponsler, Joanne (Bryant) Ownbey and Samuel A. (Wendy) Combest II, all of North Vernon; brothers, Michael (Stacie) Bowman, Zane Bowman and Glen (Pam) Bush, all of Crothersville, and Garland Bowman of Austin; sisters, Sharon (Jerry) Tuell of Austin and Miranda (Robert) O’Sullivan of Crothersville; grandchildren, Zachary Pearson, Robert Grove, Kaden Brewer, Dakota Grove, Dustin Brewer, Haley Brewer, Daryl Brewer, Chris Ponsler, Andrea Baker, Gary D. Amis, Alex Glenda, Kolton Combest, Karley Combest, Paisley Combest, Kaylin Combest and Aleah Combest; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; several siblings; and her father and mother in-law, Samuel L and Joann Combest.
A funeral service for Karen will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Tim Poer officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at a later date in the Cana Cemetery in Uniontown.
