Karen L. Gerth, 72, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:36 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at her residence.
Born August 14, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Edward Rickly and Eileen (Charles) Storts. She married Larry A. Gerth on August 20, 1988, in Covington, Kentucky; he preceded her in death.
Karen was an artist and had an associate degree in graphic design from the Pittsburg School of Fine Arts. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church in North Vernon. Karen enjoyed being an artist, oil painting, chalk and pencil art and drawing.
Survivors include her daughter, Theresa Bowers; brothers, Phillip (Brenda) Rickly and Tim (Linda) Rickly; sister, Debra (Kevin) Geer; and a grandchild, Cheaney Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Rudicel Family Event Center, 408 South State Street, North Vernon. Visitation with family and friends will be on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
Memorials may be made in honor of Karen through the funeral home to Mercy Rescue and Adoption Inc or North Vernon Wesleyan Church.
