Landyn James Porter, 17, of North Vernon, passed away at 9:36 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in Indianapolis.
Born May 20, 2009, in Columbus, he was the son of Ashley (Hobbs) Huff. He was a junior at Jennings County High School, and was involved with the high school football team, the weights program and building and trades.
Landyn enjoyed playing football, strength and conditioning, playing video games, cooking, drawing, and music. He loved being around his family, friends, girlfriend, especially his dogs, Venom, Ada, and Princess, and had a deep love for his mother. Landyn also enjoyed building things out of wood, knives, swords, and snakes.
Surviving with his mother Ashley (Ryan) Huff, of North Vernon; brother, Axl Huff of North Vernon; sister, Emberly Porter of Indianapolis; nana, Sheila Hobbs of Seymour; grandparents, Scott (Melissa) Huff and Melissa Barnes; great-grandmothers, Donna Hobbs and Peggy Griffin; aunts, Autumn (David) Booth, of North Vernon and Cheyenne Hilton of Westover, West Virginia; great-aunts, Kathy Hobbs and Teresa Johnson, both of Idaho and Leah Morris of Columbus; great-uncles, Tony Hobbs of Colorado, Robert Hobbs of Idaho, Dennis Hobbs of North Vernon, Brian Hobbs of Connecticut, Matthew Hobbs and Shannon Friar, both of North Vernon; cousins, Nate Booth, Christopher Booth, Timothy Booth, Elizabeth Booth and Zachary Booth, all of North Vernon.
He was preceded in death, grandparents, Lynn Porter and Michael Porter; great-grandfather, Kenneth Hobbs; and aunt, Kayla Hobbs.
A funeral service for Landyn will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
Memorials may be made in honor of Landyn through the funeral home for funeral expenses.
