Leota May Corya, 91, of Madison, passed away at 4:35 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Hickory Creek at Madison in Madison.
Born March 4, 1933, in North Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Garland and Irma (Oppelt) Fox. She married Roy Lee Corya Sr. in April of 1954 at the Vernon Baptist Church; he preceded her in death on October 11, 1981.
Leota was a housewife and homemaker. She was a member of the Commiskey Baptist Church in Commiskey. Leota enjoyed watching NASCAR, puzzles, and blue grass music. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Roy Lee Corya Jr. of Madison; her daughters, Betty (Charlie) Spencer of Paris Crossing, Kathy (Charlie) McPeek of North Vernon, and Doris (Marshall) Graham of Liberty; brothers, Jacob (Sue) Fox of Graham, Washington and Arthur (Joyce) Fox of Cleveland, Tennessee; sister, Eloyse Money of Hymera; grandchildren, Angela (Mark) Paliotta of Clarksville, Maryland, Carrie (Jason) Koehler of Madison; Amanda (Nicholas) Heatwole of Yuma, Arizona, Charles (Rupa) Spencer of Hanover, Emma McPeek of North Vernon, Brooke (Tyler) Grace of Columbus, Amy (Jeremy) Huntsman of Lebanon, Matthew (Stephanie) Graham of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Sara (Craig) Elgin of North Banded, Oregon; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Patricia Corya; brothers, Phillip and Lester Fox; sisters, Betty Garvey and Wilma Jones; and great-granddaughter, Naomi Spencer.
A funeral service for Leota will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Dan Corbin and Rev. John Riggs officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery (Montgomery Township) in Commiskey.
