Lester Paul Holder, 95, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021, at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital.
Born February 3, 1926, in Russell County, Kentucky, he was the son of Alonzo and Myrtle (Stephans) Holder. He married Joyce Keith Harris on December 7, 1956 in Ringo, Georgia; she preceded him in death on April 1, 2021.
Lester retired from the Boilermaker Union and was a member of River of Life Assembly of God in North Vernon. He enjoyed yardwork, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his son, Gary (Rosalyn) Holder of Avon; grandchildren, Troy Holder of Greenwood and Trevor Holder of Hanover; great-grandchildren, Zakry Holder, Reece Holder, Lexie Holder, Brock Holder, Tyler Holder, Keith Holder, Trace Holder, Trip Mardello and Avalynn Holder; and two great-great-grandchildren and his brother, Dorvis (Karen) Holder of Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Fretis, Olga, Ortha, Cloe, Barbara, Opal, and Eldon Holder.
A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel and Cremation Service with the Rev. Garry Prange officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in honor of Lester through the funeral home to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
