Levon Henson, 76, of Louisa, Virginia, passed away at 3:55 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Lake Point Village in Scottsburg, Indiana.
Born April 6, 1947, in Hazard, Kentucky the daughter of the late James and Gaynale (Adams) Pennington. She married Harvey Henson on September 4, 1990, in Louisa, Virginia; he preceded her in death in December of 2014.
Levon prepared taxes and was a dog groomer in Louisa, Virginia and had also worked for a hospital in Charleston, Virginia. She was a member of Louisa Baptist Church in Louisa, Virginia. Levon enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, and cooking.
Survivors include her daughters, Berdina Jo (Terry) Petty of Butlerville and Melissa Pam (Jamey) Branum of North Vernon; brothers, Andy Pennington, and Bernard Hopper both of Scottsburg; sisters, Glenda (Tony) Olds of Deputy, Cathy McIntosh of Austin, Dianna Pennington of Scottsburg, and Josephine Henson of Salem; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and five-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Mark Holwager, Rob Tillett and Clark Tillett; brothers, James Pennington, and Milton Hopper; sisters, Brenda Woods, Roberta Pennington; and grandchildren, Raven Ramey, Drew Ramey and Corbin Cheesebrew.
A funeral service for Levon will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Mike Shipley officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023, in the Otter Creek Cemetery in Nebraska.
Memorials may be made in honor of Levon through the funeral home for expenses.
