Linda Carol (Smith) Munson

Linda Carol Munson, 74, of North Vernon, passed away at 8:12 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at her residence.

Born December 22, 1950, in Austin, she was the daughter of the late Delbert Smith and Edith (Roberts) Jaynes. She married Michael Munson in Tennessee; he survives.

Linda was employed at Martinrea as a line worker for 14 years retiring in 2006; she had previously worked for Arvin Industries and ITT Thompson, all in North Vernon. She was a former member of the First Apostolic Church in North Vernon. Linda enjoyed her beloved dog, Cain, gardening, fishing, dancing, crocheting and flower arranging.

Surviving with her husband, Michael; is her sons, Daniel (Kristina) Graham of North Vernon, Rick (Mandy) Graham of Commiskey, and Steve (Joan) Gatrell of Potts Camp, Mississippi; stepdaughter, Christina Munson of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Delbert James (Donna) Smith of Manchester, Tennessee; sister, Maril (Tony) Riley of North Vernon; grandchildren, Nicholas Graham, Jordan (Sydney) Graham, Steven (Mackenzie) Gatrell, Casey Gatrell, and Krista (Jesse) Beal, all of North Vernon, Lilly Graham of Commiskey, Michael Gatrell of Pennsylvania, Harley Gatrell of Lawrenceburg, and Zach Gatrell of Mississippi; great-grandchildren, Hunter Graham, Brooklyn Graham, Tobias Graham, Deakin Graham, Keegan Beal, Kassidy Beal and Desmond Gatrell, all of North Vernon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve Gatrell; sister Martha (Smith) Fletcher-Robinson; and grandmother, Elizabeth Spicer.  

A funeral service for Linda will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in honor of Linda through the funeral home to First Apostolic Church.
