Linda Kay (Burton) Wright

Linda Kay Wright, 77, of Vernon, passed away at 12:56 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at her residence.

Linda was born on March 22, 1945, in Columbus. She was the daughter of the late Eddie Burton and Bertha (Caldwell) Burton. She married John Wright on January 20, 1963, in Hope; he survives.

Linda was a 1980 graduate of Jennings County High School and was a homemaker and housewife. She was a member of Tea Creek Baptist Church in Lovett. Linda enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, reading, and doing her nails. She loved spending time with her family.

Surviving with her husband, John, are her sons, Todd Wright and Tim (Sara) Wright, both of North Vernon and Tom Wright of Vernon; her daughters, Tami (Marty) Evans and Petra Wright, both of North Vernon; brother, Greg (Marcia) Burton of Columbus; grandchildren, Hannah Everhart, T.J. (Kim) Wright, Sarah (Robert) Miller, Chris (Kyriana) Wright, Danielle Malcomb, T.J. Perkins, Darian Gresham, David (Crystal) Gresham, and Bobby (Jeanetta) Gresham, all of North Vernon, Jaymie Wright of Vernon, Jesse Evans of Zenas, Donovan (Audriana) Malcomb of Holton, Katie (Kai Fields) Wright of Columbus, Seth Gresham of Madison,  and Nikki Gresham of Seymour; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Arthur, Chester and Hank Burton; sisters, Margaret Gabbard, Donna Zaring, Wanda Thompson, Yvonne Johnson and Caroline Debose; grandson, Ryan Malcomb; daughter-in-law, Debbie Wright; nephew, Bobby Joe Garrison; and niece, Cindy Rosenbaum.

A funeral service for Linda will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Philip Elliott officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.

Memorials in honor of Linda may be made through the funeral home for expenses.
