Linda Lea “Angel” Elkins, 76, of North Vernon, passed away at 12:35 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Ascension St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon.
Born July 6, 1949, in Seymour, she was the daughter of the late Lowell and Florence (Staton) Engelking. She married Ronald “Ron” Elkins on July 7, 1974, he survives.
Linda worked in Jennings County as a nurse’s aid for 22 years, she loved caring for people. She was a member of Wesleyan Church in Seymour. Linda enjoyed camping, dancing, spending time with her grandchildren, taking care of her cats; she was an animal lover. She was a rare Gem.
Surviving with her husband, Ron, are her sons, Michael Leon (Beth) Albert Jr. of Seymour and Mickey Lee (Leana) Albert of Lexington; daughters, Monique (Shawn) Neal of North Vernon and Larriana (Daniel) Banks of Seymour; brothers, Steve Engelking of Seymour and David Engelking of North Vernon; sisters, Mary (David) Easter of Scipio, Connie (Gary) Satterwhite of North Vernon, Rebecca Powell of Indianapolis, and Kelly Engelking of North Vernon; sisters-in-law, Donna Brown and Brenda Engelking; grandchildren, Andrew Nicholason, Spencer Parish, Tasha (Michael) Parker, Michael (Courtney) Bowen, Jasmin (Nirvana) Jackson, Landon Jackson, Mikel Neal, Brennan Neal, Kinsley Neal, Arturo (Dakota) Charles, Xena (Nate) Dudek, Theresa (Keysean) Charles and Hunter Banks; eleven great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Michael Engelking.
A funeral service for Linda will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Hayden Methodist Church in Hayden with Deacon Steve Engelking officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service was entrusted with the care of the services.
Memorials may be made in honor of Linda through the funeral home for expenses.
