Llewellyn Oliver “Lew” DeWitt, 70, of North Vernon, passed away at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at his residence.
Born February 8, 1951, in Franklin, the son of Charles and Mary (McFall) DeWitt. He married Jessica (David) DeWitt; she survives.
Lew was a 1969 graduate of Franklin High School and served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic during Vietnam. He worked as a production manager for Arvin’s Automotive, retiring after 21 years; he also served as an Auxiliary Police Office for the Franklin Police in Franklin. Lew enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and especially, outdoor barbeques.
Surviving with his wife, Jessica, are his daughters, Cindy (Jeffery Langerich) Jarvis of Franklin, Candy (Terry) Miller of Bargersville, and Carrie (Shane) Thomson of Franklin; brothers, Richard (Connie) DeWitt of South Carolina, Bob (Candy) DeWitt of Arizona, Chuck (Cathy) DeWitt of Martinsville, and David DeWitt of Franklin; sister, Kathy “Sis” Hendershot of Bargersville; grandchildren, Cayman Jarvis of South Carolina, Olivia Jarvis of Greenwood, Cole Miller and Tyce Miller, both of Bargersville, Reece Thomson, Camden Thomson, Caden Thomson, and Eric Howard, all of Franklin, James Howard of Long View, Washington, Jackson Reynolds of Goshen, Ohio and Taylor Reynolds of Jasper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Danny DeWitt.
In keeping with his and the family’s wishes, cremation is planned, and no services are to be held at this time. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon.
